The most successful interviews are those in which the conversation is a two-way exchange.

If you’re interviewing time and again but not advancing through the process and making it to the offer stage, this particular point is likely where you’re falling down in the interviewing process.

By failing to pose thoughtful questions to continue the discussion with the interviewer, you’re communicating that your mind isn’t the sharpest, or you’re not that interested in the position. Show signs of interest and enthusiasm by asking more questions.
Think of it as the interview is a simple discussion between colleagues. You are not colleagues in the same company. However, you are likely to be colleagues in the same industry. The interviewer is seasoning you with questions. Therefore, it’s only right to do the same. You need to be interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you.

Here are 10 questions you can ask the interviewer that will really wow the person and deliver memorable impact:

     1. What attributes does someone need to have in order to be really successful in this position?

     2. What does a typical day look like?

     3. What are some of the challenges you expect the person in this position to face?

     4. Has your role changed since you’ve been here?

     5. Who are the other members of the department (by position) and how would we all interact?

     6. How would you describe the work environment here—is the work typically collaborative or more independent?

     7. What are the current goals that the company is focused on, and how does this teamwork to support hitting those goals?

     8. What’s your favorite part about working here?

     9. How does employee feedback get incorporated into day-to-day operations?

    10. What is someone with my experience expected to complete in year one?
