For Black History Month, we wanted to highlight some local black-owned businesses in our area. As a minority-owned business ourselves, we wanted to help promote other minority-owned businesses during Black History Month.

Kin Southern Table + Bar

For the first local minority-owned business, we wanted to feature Kin Southern Table + Bar in Providence, RI! Kin Southern Table + Bar is a full-service restaurant offering classic Southern + Soul dishes.

The owner, Julia Broome, took her idea of opening a restaurant to Kickstarter. Her idea was to bring Soul food to the lovely town of Providence, RI. Kin Southern Table + Bar’s mission is to “celebrate Black culture and create an environment in which everyone (guests and staff) is treated with respect and are welcome at the table – as part of our KIN!

After receiving over $15,000 from 193 backers on Kickstarter, Julia’s dream came true. If you are in the area, Kin is the best place to visit when you are craving Southern comfort food, including items like fried green tomatoes, pulled pork hand pies, fried chicken sandwiches, cornbread, fried catfish, baked chicken, baked mac and cheese, collard greens, and more!
